Interesting Article on Ad Age

This interesting article on Ad Age's website (registration req'd) about how agencies are thinking about compensation for work gives me pause. It seems that some agencies want to be paid for ideas, not time billed, which seems reasonable enough until the employees start thinking about it. This will be one to watch.

If you follow this logic to its conclusion, then inhouse agencies should be producing the best work, right? I mean, they're actually PART of the client's company and their stake in the client's success is obvious. But this is hardly ever the case.

I'm not opposed to new thinking when it comes to compensation and partnerships. But you're right to be cautious.
