iPhone - I still want it, but I can't remember why

Yay...iPhone is still coming soon. AT&T finally put something on their main website (though when I logged into Cingular.com, which rolls over to the new at&t wireless I could find NOTHING.) AT&T is providing nothing about the iPhone service cost - just the price of the phone ($499 for 4g model or $599 for the 8g model.) That's it. Same thing at Apple.

Marketing peeps - you are sucking the life out of me. I want the damn phone - but you are killing my buzz. For hype to work you have to parcel it out a bit. Since Apple's announcement in late January (more that four months ago if you are counting) there has been nothing new. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

I'm wondering if they are downplaying it because they won't have enough product for the people who plan to camp out overnight to get the first ones, or if they have forgotten how to keep the balloon in the air. It's not supposed to to be just about moving product - it's supposed to be about excitement, engagement and loyalty. In any case - I'm not very pleased with them at the moment.

Apple and Cingular/AT&T, get me some real info - and soon, or I'm putting away my tent.

I don't know if you saw this, it's from a while ago though and just someone's guesstimate.

I read somwhere that it's "the size of a bar of soap." That's a pretty damn big bar of soap.

TIV: Loved the article - who knows how much the service is going to cost. They are probably doing research to figure out the maximum that a sucker like me is willing to pay.

Jetpacks: I think it looks a little bigger than an iPod (based on the relation to the model's hand) - but we'll see.
